Just under a week ago, teams locked horns and fought for the necessary points needed to boost their chances of qualification. This week, the second round of group-stage games in the TCC Cup kicks off.
In Group A, it’s Dino against Broad City. Coach Gibson’s men enter this clash on the back of a resounding 5-1 victory over Dannaz. Now third on the log, Dino’s sights are set on a second group stage victory over a Broad City setup that’s yet to win a TCC Cup game this season.
In other Group A fixtures, Imperial will face Dannaz while Gbagada and Sporting Lagos will fight it out for supremacy. This one has an interesting tale of the tape as both teams are tied at the top of the log. The Blue Eagles have the edge thanks to a superior goal difference. But they may just need a first clean sheet of the competition to keep Sporting at bay.
In Group B, log leaders, Beyond Limits will be looking to maintain their winning run when they host Atlantic Business. Coach Olumide’s men are yet to concede a goal and are the second-most lethal side in the group, with an average of three goals scored per game.
Real Sapphire, with 11 goals scored, are the deadliest side in the group. Their latest win, a 5-1 thrashing of Escola, underscores their quality. Up next for them is an Iganmu side that has fired blanks in its last two cup games. Rounding up the group’s games will be Valiant taking on Escola United.
