TCC Cup Draws: Free-Scoring Real Sapphire, Reigning Champions Know Opponents

The road map for the journey to the TCC Cup final has been made clearer with the draws. The eight remaining teams now know their next opponent, as well as likely semi-final opponents.

Reigning champions, Valiant, will continue their title defense by taking on Sporting Lagos. Coach Owolabi’s men only barely made the knockout phase (on goal difference). At this stage, there is no space for in-betweens.

The winner of that game will tackle whoever triumphs in the Real Sapphire v Dino clash. Real Sapphire’s 20 TCC Cup goals (the most any side has managed) is what makes them a deadly opponent to face. They will be relishing the chance to face a side that has failed to keep a clean sheet in the competition this season.

In the other half of the draw, Gbagada and Atlantic Business will battle it out for a semi-final ticket. Finalists last year, the Blue Eagles will be hoping to go all the way this time. But they must first deal with an Atlantic Business side that has managed two clean sheets in five games.

Whoever comes out on top in that fixture will face the winner of the Dannaz v Beyond Limits tie. The league champions enter this fixture with clean sheets in three games and a good league history against Dannaz. But this is different territory; a TCC Cup territory where anything can happen.
