The race for qualification took a twist in the fourth round of The Creative Championship Cup, with a number of teams pulling surprises.
In Group A, Sporting Lagos’ 100% start to the campaign was brought to a halt after suffering a 3-1 defeat against Atlantic Business. Chinedu Umeh was the star man as his double was enough to earn his team a third victory of the campaign.
Real Sapphire continued their unbeaten start in the competition, picking up a third win. Yusuf’s 36th minute goal was enough to make the difference as Coach Dan’s boys climbed to the summit of the group. With three clean sheets, they boast one of the best defenses in the competition.
In the last game in the group, Broad City recorded a first win and first clean sheet in the competition as they swept Dino aside in a 3-0 win.
In Group B, a spirited Dannaz side held Beyond Limits to a goalless draw, earning their fourth draw of the campaign. It was the first time the reigning champions failed to win a TCC Cup game this season.
And speaking of firsts, Gbagada recorded their first win of the 24/25 TCC Cup in style, trouncing Imperial 5-1. In a rampant first half display, the Blue Eagles scored thrice, with the earliest coming in the second minute, thanks to Fagbayi.
There was a similar scoreline in the other group game, as debutants, VOE, scored five times against Valiant. Fawas and Taiwo stole the show with their goals as they handed Valiant their second loss of the campaign.
