Home Teams Dominate as TCC Cup Season Kicks Off

All 12 clubs began their quest for cup glory as the 2024/2025 edition of The Creative Championship Cup got underway.

In Group A, Dino and Real Sapphire were inseparable after 90 minutes. Both sides, guilty of throwing away chance after chance, had to settle for a point apiece. Theirs was the only game to end without a goal in the opening MatchDay of the cup competition.

In other Group A games, Atlantic Business got their business done just right as they defeated Broad City 2-1. Moyosore Onikoyi continued his fine scoring form from the league as he scored Atlantic’s second on the day.

Sporting Lagos were the biggest scorers in the group as they bagged a hat-trick of goals, out-scoring Iganmu in the clash of the Lagosians.

In Group B, Dannaz were the biggest winners as they put five goals past Imperial. Second-half substitute, Akhigbe Monike, stole the show, as he bagged a hat-trick in 40 minutes despite coming on as a second-half substitute.

In other games, Gbagada’s wait for a win this season continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by debutants, VOE. In the other game, reigning champions, Beyond Limits, started off their title defense with a 1-0 win over Valiant.

An exciting start to the cup season saw all but two teams get at least a goal. Valiant and Imperial will be hoping to join the scoring party in the next MatchDay – and also get their first TCC Cup win of the season.
