Valiant 3-1 Dannaz
Valiant upsets Dannaz 3-1 to reach a first TCC Cup final in the game played at the Legacy Pitch on Friday.
The all-Lagos affair in the other semifinal game after Gbagada beat Beyond Limits last week lived up to its billing as the Brave boys put up a fine performance to the shock of many.
Valiant, who have been bottom for most parts of the TCC League season, were at their impressive best against a side they have struggled against in recent times.
Forward Sanusi Maleek handed the Brave boys the lead some minutes before the half-hour mark before Abiodun Toheeb doubled the tally eight minutes later to the amazement of everyone at the game venue. They took the lead into the break as they were just 45 minutes away from a first cup final.
However, after the break, Dannaz pulled one back through talisman Paul Aderibigbe in the 51st minute to set up a grandstand finish to the contest.
While Valiant kept defending bravely, the Cedars stepped it up from there on but they could not find a way past goalkeeper Saheed Hammed. And as the game was nearing its conclusion, Gafar Olaniyan ensured their spot is sealed in the final with a superb goal in the 91st minute.
Valiant will now face Gbagada in the cup final later this month.
