The newcomers threw their hat into the ring as they sought to challenge other teams for TCC glory. As an unfamiliar foe, they posed a different kind of threat that they were banking on to record success, both in the league and cup competitions.
First Half of the Season
VOE, for all their pomp, were made to wait until MatchDay 2 before recording their first win. Their 4-3 victory over Sporting Lagos was sandwiched in-between losses to the ‘Regular Joes’ in Imperial and Beyond Limits.
Nevertheless, the league newbies continued their push and picked up a second win, this time a 2-1 victory over Dino in October. It would be their second-to-the-last win of the first half of their campaign as they suffered defeats to Gbagada, Atlantic Business, and Real Sapphire.
In the League Cup, VOE secured qualification despite winning just two of their five games.
Second Half of the Season
January 2025 kicked off with mixed results for VOE. A draw at Iganmu was followed by a loss to Real Sapphire before their first win of the year against Dannaz.
In February, they evened things out, managing two wins and two losses. By the end of this run, VOE had found momentum enough to chase Din for a chance to finish seventh.
Both sides would tussle for that spot for the remainder of the season, with VOE falling short at the end of the day, despite finishing their season with an impressive 1-6 victory over Imperial.
In the League Cup, VOE failed to replicate their league victories against Dino when both sides were paired. A 2-0 loss in the final eight signaled the end of their TCC Cup run as they learnt useful lessons for the seasons ahead.
