Broad City’s season was neither here nor there. It is simply the reflection of their lack of consistency throughout the season. The City Boys, as they are fondly called, started the season on a fantastic note, beating defending champions Beyond Limits 3-1 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
Motivated by that win, fans and observers expected them to build on that and they backed the opening day result up with another win over Gbagada. They made it three out of three with another routine 2-0 win over Iganmu FC. Their winning streak came to a halt on match day four as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Atlantic Business, but they bounced back to beat Dino 2-1 in their next engagement. Another draw against bottom-placed Escola followed before they were thumped 5-1 at home by Imperial in their next league game. A five-game unbeaten run with four draws came their way next before their second defeat of the season at the hands of Dannaz. They suffered just one defeat at the end of the season from that moment to finish in the top half of the table.
In total, Broad City won nine games, drew eight of them, and lost the remaining five.
In the TCC Cup, Broad City were largely underwhelming as they finished bottom of group A without a win. They lost two and drew three of the five games they played.
The City boys failed to make it past the group stages and that saw them miss out on a place in the quarter-finals. Going forward, they will hope to be back in the coming season better and challenge for titles in the TCC.
