Valiant FC, with relative ease, valiantly trounced Iganmu FC 4-0 in the first leg of their TCC Cup quarter-final first leg at the Agege Stadium on Saturday.
Having previously met in the league earlier this season where they won 3-1 at Iganmu, the Brave boys went into the cup’s first installment as huge favourites to progress over two legs and they did not disappoint.
After a bit of resistance from the away side, the home side took the lead through Babatunde Akinsola’s well taken spot-kick in the 17th minute.
From thereon, the homers never looked back and kept getting better, three minutes before the break they doubled their lead. The lively Babatunde was the goalscorer once again as they took the two-goal advantage into the break.
After the restart, the home side kept coming forward and were duly rewarded with a third goal in the 65th minute off the boots of lethal forward Lukman Ibrahim and Opeyemi Qudus rounded off the scoring in the 80th minute with a goal of his own.
Valiant take the huge lead into the second leg of the cup tie that would come up in a week’s time, leaving Iganmu FC with a mountain to climb.
Man of the Match
Valiant’s Muktar Muhammad played a huge part in his side’s first ever cleansheet in any of the TCC competitions. His astuteness, leadership sagacity and coordinated organisation at the back was key to the success on the day.
