Remo Stars U19 4-1 Dino SC

Thursday 15th April, 2021

Venue: Remo Stars Stadium

Remo Stars took a giant step into reaching the TCC League Cup final with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Dino SC at the Remo Stars stadium on Thursday.

Remo Stars made a comeback to nick a point against Imperial FC last weekend upon the return of the TCC League while Dino SC won 1-0 away at Ijebu United.

Match ups between the two clubs have always been feisty and highly entertaining. This semifinal clash wasn’t short of excitement either. Remo Stars made an excellent start to the game when Ezekiel Light fired them into the lead in the 11th minute with a lightening strike.

In the battle of defence against attack, few chances were created for the rest of the half. Either side kept closing the spaces around the channel which made it difficult for the attackers to have any sniff at goal.

Three minutes before the break, Remo Stars doubled their advantage after some intricate passing created an opening for Taiwo Moshood to fire pass the on-rushing goalie.

After the restart, Dino made some changes as they searched for some urgency in their attack. Hyacinth Ogonna and Onozulu Gozie were introduced and in the 71st minute the deficit was halved by Adekunle Elijah’s strong finish.

Coach Ajibolade Olumide also made his own set of changes and it was one of them Sola Ogundana who wrapped up the win with two late goals. He was played through on goal for the first by Akinsanmiro Ebenezer and he converted calmly in the 81st minute.

Two minutes from time, Dino lost the ball in their defensive half and Ebenezer punished them with an exciting pass to Sola to score his second of the game.

This is the third time that Dino would be losing to the junior Sky Blues. The conclusion minutes of this tie will be played in Ijebu-ode next week.

Man of the Match

Akinsanmiro Ebenezer (Remo Stars FC)

A strong performance from the attacking midfielder. He was at the centre of everything Remo Stars did in the game. The two assists was a reward for his incredible display.
