Ijebu United 1-1 Dino SC

Saturday 30th January, 2021

Venue: Dipo Dina Int'l Stadium

There is still much to play for between the two Gateway State sides as the first leg of their quarter final match in the TCC Cup ended 1-1 on Saturday.

Their previous meeting in the league ended 1-0 in favour of this cup’s first leg visitors. Dino, who are fond of conceding little or not conceding at all, were slight favourites and playing against a rival like Ijebu United made it an exciting fixture to look out for when the draws were made.

The game began in stunning fashion as two goals came in the opening fifteen minutes of the cup tie. Oscar Blessing, who has been on scintillating goalscoring form in the league, put the visitors ahead in the third minute.

Sooner than later, the home side restored parity through Sikiru Kamarudeen’s goal in the 14th minute. Both sides looked to take advantage of any possible slip up in the game, but it never happened as the half ended in a stalemate.

Both coaches made substitutions after the interval but the scoreline stayed the same at the end of ninety minutes.

Ijebu United might be biting their nails for not taking any sort of lead into the second leg while Dino would take solace in the away goal they got going into the return fixture in seven days time.

Man of the Match

Ugochukwu Iwala’s industriousness in the centre forward role was crucial in attack for Ijebu United; the performance only lacked a goal.
