Dino SC and Ijebu United served up a spectacle in the second leg of their TCC Cup quarter-final game on Sunday.
The reverse fixture ended 1-1 in the same stadium but with Dino playing at home, they began as favourites for the second leg of the tie and they made most of their dominance in style.
Notably, games involving Dino and Ijebu United have been low scoring but this particular one was an exception. The drama began in the 25th minute with a goal from Samuel Ojukutu for Dino SC. That lead was taken into the break by Coach Gibson Godson’s men.
After the restart, the away side were back on level terms through Chuks Okwosa’s goal in the 53rd minute. But Dino would soon pull away from the visitors through goals from Oscar Bless and Henry Azimi in the 65th and 72nd minute respectively.
Meanwhile, there was still time for Ijebu United to get another goal of their own and it was Okwosa with his second of the game to set up a nervy finish to the game.
Dino SC held on to progress 4-3 on aggregate at the expense of their fellow Gateway state side, to set up a clash with Remo Stars in the semi-final of the TCC Cup.
Man of the Match
Chuks Okwosa was brilliant in the game for Ijebu United, earning two goals in the process. Perhaps, he would have loved a place in the semi-finals rather than the MOTM award, but this would serve as a consolation for his efforts in the encounter.
