Beyond Limits get one over Imperial to make TCC Cup Final Berth

Last year’s finalists, Beyond Limits, secured another final appearance when they defeated Imperial FC.

Gunning for the double, Coach Olumide’s side started the game with one aim in mind: to win. The aim was the same across the field too, as Imperial sought to put icing on what has been a season to remember, by finishing off their opponents and getting to the final.

Both sides were guilty of failing off being wasteful in the first half of the game. The goalkeepers – Okechukwu Olisa and Abiade Sodiq – were also on hand to ensure that the first half of the game finished without a goal.

The second would however start where the first ended, with both sides carving out chances but failing to convert them. Even after a number of substitutes were brought on, the result stayed the same.

In the 66th minute, Akande Bunmi received a second yellow card for stopping a promising attack by Beyond Limits. Down to 10 men, Imperial were vulnerable to the attacks of Coach Olumide’s side.

And it only took two minutes for them to take the lead as Onyebuch Obasi was well-positioned to put his side in the lead. One could have easily become two, three or four. But the combination of poor finishing and a resolute Imperial defense meant this one ended as a slim win for a side that could finish the season with two trophies.
