It was a shocking performance from Imperial and Atlantic Business at the Remo Stars stadium as their matchweek nine meeting finished goalless on Saturday evening.
Imperial have been impressive all season and were favourites to nick another win, while Atlantic came into the fixture on the back of a derby home loss to Dino.
Imperial, who had coach Adedeji Ayeoba missing due to a family engagement, started the game brightly and were awarded a penalty in the opening half, but Ezeno Chidera’s attempt was saved by goalkeeper Jimoh Godwin.
More drama evolved when Atlantic got a penalty of their own, but it was missed as the game came to a halt for the HT break. However, before the end of the half, Imperial were reduced to ten men when Kareem Peter received his marching orders.
Minutes after the break, Imperial had another penalty and coach Adiro Olayinka’s side were also reduced to ten men as Ridwan Ishola was shown a second yellow card in ten minutes. From the resulting penalty, the home side failed to convert as they missed once more.
Chances came in the final moments of the game but none of the teams could capitalize as the game ended in a disappointing stalemate.
