Iganmu continued their impressive start to the new Creative Championship League campaign with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Sporting Lagos on Friday.
It is the pair’s first-ever meeting in TCC history and it was indeed an excellent contest, as goals came aplenty.
Just like they have done in almost all their games this season in the league, Sporting drew first blood in the fourth minute through Chukwuma Ugbo. However, that lead only lasted seven minutes as man-in-form Bamidele Adeleke scored his third goal in three league games.
And just two minutes after the half-hour mark, Bamidele struck once again to complete the turnaround for coach Alade Kabiru’s men at the Legacy Pitch on Friday.
However, Sporting did not let down their guards as they continued to attack and in search of the equalizer, but that never arrived as the half ended with the home side leading.
As we witnessed in the first half, quick-fire goals in the second period concluded the contest. First, Saturday Okon restored parity for Sporting and just a minute later Friday Joseph scored an own goal to hand the home side the lead back.
The Tigers held on for their second win in three games and their fourth win overall. As for Sporting, the defeat ended their run of seven league games without a defeat.
