Suprise packages Imperial continued their Cinderella run in the TCC League with a 5-2 win over Iganmu in Ikenne.
The Ogun boys have been excellent all season and were favourites to claim a fifth win of the season against the Lions, who have been underwhelming this campaign once more.
After a few minutes where the play was balanced and cagey between them, Imperial went in front through striker Ezekiel Samuel in the 19th minute.
The goal was the difference going to the break as the hosts couldn’t find a cushion goal while the visitors failed to get an equaliser.
Just two minutes after the break, the visitors restored parity through Olamide Korede. However, the leveler soon got vapourised when Bilyaminu Abdullahi made it 2-1 to the hosts in the 51st minute.
The ding-dong affair continued as the visitors levelled for the second time through Dim Chinonso in the 55th minute of the game.
However, that would be the last time Iganmu would get themselves on the score sheet as the home side took full control.
Skipper and man-in-form Chidera Ezeno handed Adedeji Ayeoba’s men the lead for the third time in the 65th minute before Abdullahi completed his brace eight minutes later.
Ezeno then rounded up the scoring seven minutes from time to complete the comfortable win over the Lagosians in Ikenne.
