Venue: Agege Stadium

Full-time: Valiant FC 1-1 Gbagada FC

Valiant and Gbagada FC played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in The Creative Championship League at the Agege stadium on Sunday.

The game kicked off in frantic fashion as both sides looked to settle into the game quickly. The visitors began brightly, carving out chance after chance in search of the game’s opening goal.

Valiant front three of Babatunde Akinsola, Lukman Ibrahim and Agboola Ifeoluwa combined to carve out the first real chance of the game. The latter’s effort went high and wide of the mark.

Some minutes later Gbagada had their own opportunity in the 11th minute when a well floated cross by Olawoyin Wasiu found Semiu Fagbayi, but his side-footed effort was sent into the side netting.

In the 19th minute, the Brave Boys got the game’s opening goal. Gbagada FC were penalised for a handball in the area and Lukman scored after his initial effort was saved by Olootu Alaba.

The visitors kept coming forward after going a goal down, but their quest to restore parity were either thwarted by the defense of Valiant or they were wasteful in front of goal.

After the break, the Blue Eagles continued the search for the equaliser, but they found Adebayo Abiodun’s goal difficult to breach. They eventually found a way in the 76th minute when a ball over the top found Oyeniyi Hammed, who capitalised on the goalkeeper’s error to find Nworie Sunday for the game’s equaliser.

Both coaches further ringed changes in the closing stages of the game but the winning goal never came as they settled for a draw.

Man of the Match

Gbagada’s Oyeniyi Hammed was a thorn in the flesh of the home side. His constant runs down the right channel was productive in the end as it produced the game’s equaliser.
