Ijebu United vs Iganmu FC

Sunday 17th January, 2021

Venue: Ijebu Ode Stadium

Full-time: Ijebu United 2-1 Iganmu FC

The last game of MatchWeek 7 featured Ijebu United play host to Iganmu FC. Both sides, looking to climb up the table, locked horns in Ijebu-Ode, as they looked to bounce back from defeats suffered in Gameweek 6.

Knowing what was at stake, both sides started out cautiously, measuring up to each other’s strengths in the first few minutes of the game. The game was balanced right until the first goal was scored in the 22nd minute of the game.

Olumide scored the game’s opening goal, leaving the Iganmu defense stunned. But the Lagos boys, determined to get a win from this game, were undaunted.

They pushed for an equalizer and got what they wanted in the 24th minute via the boots of Abdulrahman Sulyman who is quickly becoming a regular scorer for Ijebu United. The first half would end without a winner and the second would start just as the first kicked off.

The home side took the lead in the 52nd minute when Jabaar put the ball past the goalkeeper to give his side the lead. Ijebu United would run out winners of this game, registering their third win of the season, leaving Iganmu FC wondering about what could have been.

Man of the Match

Although he did not get a goal in the game, Wasiu Abdusalam played a pivotal role in ensuring that his side earned three more points and move up to fourth in the table.
