Dino SC couldn’t hold out for a win against visiting second placed Valiant FC as one of Sunday’s doubleheaders ends 1-1 in Ijebu Ode.
Judging by the defensive credentials of Dino SC and the attacking prowess of the visitors, it was a game tagged to be a cracker and with high expectations that both sides would have a go at each other as the quest for more points and bragging rights intensified.
The first half was a bit cagey and both sides couldn’t find a way past each other for the game’s opening goal. A tactical battle it was, between Coach Godwin Gibson and his visiting counterpart, Coach Achieve Yunus.
Upon the resumption of hostilities, Dino went in front through Seun Salahu’s goal just 12 minutes into the second half. But the lead wouldn’t last long as the away side pulled back five minutes later. Starman Babatunde Akinsola scored in beautiful fashion to drag his side level.
After that spell of a mini goal rush, no other goal came from the two exciting sides as they settled for a draw at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode.
Valiant remain without a win in the TCC League in 2021, while Dino failed to close in on second spot with that result.
Man of the Match
Timothy Okon Edet deservedly picks up the MOTM. It was a composed and dominant performance from the centre back.
