Gbagada Condemn Valiant to yet Another Defeat

Valiant’s search for a first win of the season continues as they slumped to a fifth defeat of the season at the hands of Gbagada.

The hosts, before the game, had conceded 13 goals in five games – an average of over two goals per game. The leaky defense would let the team down again just after 15 minutes into their Matchweek 6 clash against the Blue Eagles.

After finding space behind the Valiant defense to run into, Akibu Ademola leveraged on some neat exchange of passes and put the ball in the back of the net to open the scoring.

The goal seemed to compound the woes of Valiant players who seemed to be second-best in the game. Going forward, nothing was working for Joel Akai, Adeyemi Meshark and Abdullahi Bilyaminu.

On the other end of the pitch, Fagbayi Semiu and Adiele Marvellous were pulling the strings, orchestrating play, among other things. They’d eventually get reward for their efforts when Ademola Akibu stepped up to convert from the spot just before half-time.

The 2nd half started like the first, with Gbagada dominating and Valiant having no response. Although Ogbonnaya’s presence in the midfield, after being subbed on in the 62nd minute helped Valiant to play better, it was not enough.

Despite a consolation goal by Adeyemi Meshark in the 78th minute that helped Valiant to pull a goal back, it wasn’t enough.

While Gbagada climb up to eighth, Valiant remain rooted to the bottom of the log, giving Coach Mustapha plenty to think about.
