Dannaz Bring Iganmu Tiger Unbeaten Run to a Halt

Dannaz registered a third win in a row as they overcame Iganmu Tiger in the Matchweek 6 TCC League fixture.

The match however began with a one-minute silence on honor of Late Ali Nurudeen, a Lagos-based referee (also officiating in the TCC League) who passed away the day before.

Iganmu started things off as the livelier side, with smooth passes that found holes in the Dannaz defense.

They made their early dominance pay in the third minute when Gafar Olanrewaju opened the scoring with a thumping left-footer from just inside the 18-yard area.

Rattled by the goal but not shaken, Dannaz found their rhythm and gradually grew into the game.Asides finding a way past the tireless Iganmu Tiger midfield, they got their first corner which led to a scramble in the penalty area. Salaudeen Basit was the quickest to put boot to ball inside the melee, poking the ball home and drawing the visitors level.

With both sides level, the chances disappeared as each team slowed down the tempo of the game.

Things picked up pace again in the 25th minute, with Ogundare Williams finding himself one on one with the goalkeeper, Toheeb Abdulazeez. Despite rounding the goalie, the winger’s effort on goal was cleared off the line by Mubarak Abdul-rahman.

Just a few minutes after, Dannaz took turn to threaten. And in like manner as they scored their first, they scored a second and took the lead. A corner led to yet another scramble inside the Iganmu 18-yard area.

After failing to find the back of the net on first attempt, Onoja Matthew tried again and this time, poked the ball into the net to get his goal and give his side the lead in the 31st minute.

Two minutes before half-time, Iganmu Tiger were caught napping again. Put through on goal, Obakimi Joshua caught his opponents off guard and calmly slot the ball home from close range.

The 2nd half started like the first – with the exception of the goals.

Despite the hard work of the likes of  Eguavon Charles (a substitute) and Yahaya Seidu in the middle of the park, there were no goals to show.

The former came the closest to scoring after his shot from a well-worked set-piece routine could only hit the woodwork. This was only minutes after Obakimi Joshua’s effort on goal was thwarted by the goalie. Emeka Uzor was, again, on hand to ensure his side’s deficit wasn’t increased as he saved yet another shot just before the final whistle.

The 2nd half ended without a goal as Dannaz got the better of Iganmu. Having now scored three goals in each of their last three games, Dannaz have become one of the teams to beat in TCC League.
