Atlantic Business triumph in nine goal thriller

Atlantic Business returned to winning ways in the TCC League by beating Imperial 5-4 on Sunday in Ijebu Ode.

ATL have been underwhelming in recent games and came up against high-flyers Imperial in a must-win game at the Dipo Dina Stadium on match week 6.

The game didn’t get the possible start for the home side as Ezekiel Samuel scored a quick-fire hat-trick in the game’s opening quarter. The goals came as a shock to Adiro Olayinka’s side and tried getting back into the game.

It took them a while, but they eventually got a goal before halftime from Paul Jacob in the 39th minute.

The real drama started after the break as five more goals were scored in the game. Defender Arowolo Toheeb pulled one back for ATL before Abiodun Mustapha completed the comeback with a goal of his own in the 63rd minute.

When it looked like the home side were back in it, they conceded a penalty which Ezeno Chidera converted to hand the visitors the lead again.

Buoyed by the first comeback in the game, the God’s Own Team went for it again and with 15 minutes to go, substitute Elijah Marcus made it 4-4 before Abiodun fired home the winner in stoppage time.

ATL claimed all three points in TCC League’s highest-ever scoring game to return to winning ways, leaving the Imperial contingent in disbelief at the end of the game.
