Still searching for their first win of the inaugural Creative Championship season, Imperial FC welcomed Ijebu United in the Gameweek 5 game.
This was a game between two sides desperate for wins. While the home side was searching for its first win, the away side was searching for its second, a bounce back from their defeat away to Dino SC.
As expected, the game started with both teams flying off the blocks, knowing what was at stake. The hungrier side got the first goal of the game which came from the boots of Imperial’s Abdullahi.
In the 17th minute, the game was level as Babus drew the away side level, taking advantage of what has been Imperial FC’s Achilles Heel this season, sloppy defending.
Ugochukwu will make it 2-1 to the away sides before the 30th minute mark and the Ijebu would gain ascendancy from there on. A third goal in the 72nd minute ensured that Ijebu United registered their second win of the season, leaving Coach Abdulfatai Wahab with plenty to ponder as he and his young lads try to figure things out during the break.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Babus scored two goals in his side’s triumph over Imperial FC. His goals ensured that his team finished the year on a high. Imperial FC defenders won’t be forgetting this constant menace in a hurry.
