Valiant, Beyond Limits Share Spoils in Goalfest

Valiant and Beyond Limits played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Legacy Pitch, Surulere on Sunday.

The games involving the two sides have always produced goals and it was not a surprise when BYL got the opening goal of this match week four game after just 180 seconds through winger Sunday Gift – following up his midweek Cup performance with a goal in the League.

The Brave boys, who have fallen short in their previous three games but were buoyed by the shock win over Sporting Lagos in the Cup earlier in the week, found a response minutes later through striker Adeyemi Meshark.

It became a ding-dong affair between the two enterprising teams and it was in the second half that the remaining four goals were scored but not without drama. BYL went into the lead again through Ganiyu Adio’s ferocious strike and just sixty seconds later Meshark completed his brace to restore parity.

Both coaches, Mustapha Owolabi (Valiant) and Olumide Ajibolade (Beyond Limits), made changes to their team in order to affect the context of the game and it was a substitute that handed Valiant the lead for the first time in the game. Bello Alaba put his side in front in the 84th minute as they hope to claim their first win over Beyond Limits since the 20/21 season.

However, the Ikenne boys found a late equalizer through defender Victory Iboro in the 87th minute to deny the Lagosians a first win of the campaign. Despite the hot conditions, it was a game that lived up to the billing as the goals came aplenty.

Valiant took their first point of the season, while the defending champions are without a win in their past three league games and are four points off table toppers Imperial.
