Imperial claimed back-to-back wins in the TCC Cup for the first time in their history, beating Broad City 4-3 at the Remo Stars Stadium on Wednesday.
Given that they won their first-ever TCC Cup game in the previous game against Iganmu FC, Imperial came out fighting against a Broad City side who have been impressive all season with two wins from two cup games.
However, things went according to plan for the home side as they shot into a 3-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes through goals from Ezekiel Samuel, skipper Chidera Ezeno and former Beyond LImits forward Temitope Adaralegbe.
It took a while for the visitors to wake up from their slumber and when they did, they scored two goals before the break. Isaiah Omale continued his run of scoring in every game before Centre-back Solomon Agbalaka added his own goal on the stroke of halftime.
Being the side on the ascendancy, Broad City pushed for an equalizer after the break but it was the Odogboolu side who managed to increase their lead through defender Rilwan Oniyide’s goal at the hour mark.
Christian Ikechukwu’s men did not go down without a fight as Kassim Shobanke’s goal in the 72nd minute set up a frantic finish to the game. However, Adedeji Ayeoba’s boys stood strong and held on for a precious win over the Lagosians and brightened their chances of reaching the semis.
