The Creative Championship League’s game week four opener between Imperial FC and Remo Stars, tagged the Ogun derby, lived up to its billing.
Imperial FC came into this fixture without a win and no point since the opening weekend of the season, while the visitors have been resurgent and had won two consecutive games before this encounter.
It was a game that was keenly contested right from the blast of the whistle, with both sides missing chances to go ahead in the opening half-hour. Either side couldn’t find a breakthrough as the game remained goalless at halftime.
Two minutes after the break, Shola Ogundana headed home a sumptuous cross from Hassan Abdullahi to continue his side’s impressive record of scoring in every game.
The home side turned up the screw after that opener and they were back on level terms two minutes after the hour mark via substitute Jeremiah Adeoye’s smart finish.
Horrendous defending from Choice Nduka, who fouled pacey Ogundana in the area, handed Remo Stars the chance to go in front again. Morgan Agbeko sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from 12 yards for his second #TCCLeague goal of the season.
Hayatou Suleiman’s special finish, twelve minutes from time, was the icing on the cake; as coach Ajibolade Olumide’s wards go top of the #TCCLeague with another comprehensive away win.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Shola Ogundana (Remo Stars U19)
His contribution throughout the game was special. He was brilliant in and out of possession. A leader of the attacking orchestra and his goal was a reward for his dominant display.
