Gbagada failed to maintain their 100% start to the season as they lost to Iganmu FC. The Blue Eagles, who had been soaring high since the season began, struggled against their home side.
For the first time this season, Coach Akinyelu’s side failed to score in a game. They also conceded for the first time this season.
For the home side, they started the brighter of the two clubs, forcing Kabiru to make a save as early as the 11th minute. Izuchukwu would make a few darting runs down the left as the half progressed. However, they failed to find the back of the net.
The first half, a quiet one, gave way for the second, which was more competitive. Iganmu picked things up from where they left it off and opened the scoring in the 50th minute. The Blue were slower than usual, failing to create goal-scoring chances. Iganmu, on the other hand, could have made it two in the 54th minute. However, they hit the woodwork instead, a sign of their relentlessness and effort to double their lead.
In the 60th minute, Balogun forced Ubong Richard into making a save. Despite Coach Akinyelu making a number of substitutions, Gbagada succumbed to a loss; a loss to the better side on the afternoon.
