Gbagada, Atlantic Business share spoils in Lagos derby

Gbagada FC and Atlantic Business faced off in the opening match of game week three in the Creative Championship League on Thursday.

The two sides are the only remaining unbeaten sides left in the competition. Gbagada sit in second with four points while Atlantic Business have a 100% record going to the

stay in top spot.

The Legacy Pitch was the venue of this mouthwatering clash and it did live up to the billing as we saw two spot kicks in the game and plethora of fantastic plays.

Adiro Olayinka’s Atlantic flew out of the blocks early and were quite purposeful in attack, signalling their intention to unsettle the home side.

That early push earned them a penalty to go ahead, but Gbagada keeper Ayobami Oligbinde came up with a big save to deny Abiodun Mustapha.

The God’s Own Team would eventually rue that miss as Gbagada grabbed the opener through Ademola Akibu. The forward headed home a corner kick by Balogun Wasiu in the 19th minute.

Chances upon chances in the remaining minutes of the half but additional goals never came.

After the break, both sides went for it again as Atlantic were looking for the equaliser, while the Blue Eagles were hoping to extend their lead.

The visitors eventually got their leveller when they were awarded another spot kick. Paul Jacob took responsibility this time to restore parity in the 69th minute.

In the end, it was a fair result as the top two teams in the league this campaign settled for a share of the spoils.
