Another Win, Another Clean Sheet for Gbagada

It’s a first defeat of the season for Beyond Limits as they surrendered their 100% record to Gbagada FC.

Both sides headed into this clash with two wins from their opening two games of the campaign. With the top spot on the log table at stake, starting the game with a strong foot was important. And it was the home side that took the initiative with an early lead.

A throw-in from the left flank of the pitch found Ademola Akibu in opposition territory. The striker wasted no time in laying off a pass for Wasiu Balogun who fired home from close range. It took Coach Olumide’s side a while before they kicked into gear, with their 11th minute attempt from outside the box was way off target.

The end-to-end action continued in the game, with Gbagada registering a shot on target in the 22nd minute and forcing a corner in the 40th. Restrategizing during the break, Beyond Limits FA started the second half the stronger side. However, their 50th minute attempt on goal was well covered by goalkeeper Kabiru.

After their scramble in the box in the 62nd minute, the away team conceded a 67th minute penalty. However, Balogun could not get his second of the afternoon as Micheal Atata dived in the right direction, making a save. The game ended with both sides guilty of being profligate in front of goal, failing to take their chances.

It’s three wins from three for Gbagada FC; three wins without conceding a goal. Certainly, they’re now the team to beat as the TCC League features its first midweek games of the season.
