Dino SC secured a consecutive win in the TCC Cup this season, beating Dannaz FC 2-1 at the Remo Stars Stadium on Friday.
Dannaz earned a 1-1 draw against Emmydinho in their debut game and were hoping to claim a win in their supposed first home game in the cup, but Dino, who thumped Emmydinho 4-1 last time out, prevented that from happening.
Dannaz got off to a flying start when Savid Idezi opened the scoring in the first minute of action. However, leading scorer Elijah Adekunle levelled from the spot in the 22nd minute to bring coach Gibson Godwin’s men back into the game.
Meanwhile, both sides settled more into the game and only managed to cancel each other out for the rest of the half.
After the break, the visitors took the initiative to go for broke and were rewarded in the 63rd minute through teenage winger Hyacinth Ogonna, who got his second goal in two games.
The Cedars huffed and puffed in the final half-hour of the game but the visitors’ defence led by Afolayan Peters managed to keep them at bay and close out the game for a second win in this season’s TCC Cup.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Hyacinth Ogonna (Dino SC)
The winger was quite decisive in the final third. His trickery on the wings caused Dannaz a whole lot of problems and he capped his performance with a wonderful goal.
