The clash between the two newbies lived up to expectations as Broad City cruised past Atlantic Business 3-1 at the Remo Stars Stadium on Sunday.
Having won on the opening weekend of the TCC Cup, the City’s Pride were chasing a second win while Atlantic Business held the defending champions Gbagada FC to a 1-1 draw in their debut game before losing to Iganmu FC last weekend. And it was the home side in this fixture, Broad City, who went for the jugular and duly shot into the lead through Kassim Shobanke’s 23rd minute goal.
With a goal down at the break, Adiro Olayinka’s men regrouped, initiated three half-time subs and hoped for a fight back in the second half. Meanwhile, those hopeful moves were dashed when winger Victor Yunana doubled the hosts’ lead in the 57th minute.
Christian Ikechukwu’s men were flying and soon made it 3-0 through Isaiah Omale who grabbed his second goal of the tournament in the 67th minute. The visitors made further changes after that and it was one of the new entrants, Muyiwa Sasseyi, who grabbed a consolation goal from the spot 12 minutes from time.
That goal only punctured Jimmy John’s clean sheet, the deed has been done and the outcome was a win for the homers but the God’s own team continued their search for a TCC Cup win.
