Newbies Sporting Lagos earned a first win in the Creative Championship League when they thrashed Valiant 4-0 at the Legacy Pitch on Saturday.
Both teams suffered defeats in the opening weekend of the season and came into this encounter with renewed determination and vigour to get off the mark.
Valiant were hoping to put last season’s shadows behind them. But despite a narrow loss to Broad City last weekend where they showed some improvements, they were unfortunately left disappointed at the end of the day.
Sporting looked more favoured to score in the game as they played with more purpose and precision in the final third.
Just eight minutes before the break, striker Chukwuma Emma scored to hand the visitors the lead. That goal came at a crucial time for Micah Bello’s men, while Valiant Mustapha Owolabi’s halftime pep talk got altered by virtue of that.
The hosts came fighting more after the break and pushed for an equaliser but the visitors soon doubled their lead through Adio Ojora in the 69th minute.
In the dying moments of the game, Adio went on to grab further two goals to claim his hat-trick – Sporting’s first in the TCC League.
It was a comprehensive win for the league debutants, while Valiant remained without a goal, a point and a win this season.

Who else but the hat trick hero? He took his goal brilliantly to lead his side to their first win in the competition. Excellent display.
