Imperial Bounce Back to Winning Ways Against Broad City

Imperial FC grabbed their first three points of the season as they defeated Broad City 4-2.

Just a few days after dropping points at Dino, the young Imperial boys hosted Broad City with a single aim of picking up maximum points. For Broad City, this one was a game where they hoped to continue the momentum from the Opening Day.

But it was Imperial who got off to a flying start Olatunji Adbulmaleek broke the deadlock in the 11th minute. Coach Adedeji’s side, smelling blood, mounted pressure and added a second through Favour Igwe’s goal in the 26th minute.

Despite being in control for the most part of the first half, Imperial’s defensive frailties reared its ugly head, yet again. In the 30th minute, the hosts lost concentration and let Yunana Victor slip past their defense to pull one back for the visitors.

With just two minutes to go, 2-1 became 2-2 as both sides were level thanks to Jeremiah Christopher’s goal.

The second half started the same way the first ende: More pressure from both sides to find a third goal. Just when it seemed the game was headed for a draw, Sunday Okoro stepped up in the 76th minute and scored to give his side the lead. Eight minutes later, Musa Abdulmaleek rounded off the scoring as Imperial cruised to a 4-2 win.
