Ijebu United and Emmydinho came into this game looking for their first win of the young Creative Championship season. Having lost their first game, this was a game to catch the downward spiral and build momentum.
What was supposed to be two teams fighting for points quickly turned into a one-way traffic after referee Awodein Abidemi signalled for kick-off.
Within five minutes of play, the home side, Ijebu United, were already in the lead, thanks to Sulyman Abdulrahman. It didn’t take long for the No. 23 player to add to his tally and heap more pressure on the away team as he scored again in the seventh minute.
After 10 minutes of play, Ijebu United were cruising thanks to three unreplied goals. At the end of the first half, they had opened up a four-goal lead. Their third, scored by Jabaar, was followed by the ourth, scored by Ugochukwu, in the 31st minute.
Flat and outplayed, Emmydinho had no response to the fast-paced style of play that the home side employed. And it’s no surprise that they conceded a fifth from the man that had started the torment, Abdulrahman.
The Ijebu United striker would start the second half the same way he did the first, completing his hat trick in the 46th minute. Emmydinho never recovered and became the first side in The Creative Championship to lose their first two games.
A statement win for Ijebu United and plenty to ponder upon for rock-bottom Emmydinho.
MAN OF THE MATCH
There was no looking past Ijebu United’s Sulyman Abdulrahman for this one. He was simply unstoppable, making space for himself; both on the pitch, and in headlines as The Creative Championship continues to gain popularity.
