Iganmu Tiger (formerly Iganmu FC) played host to Gbagada FC as match week two of The Creative Championship League kicked off on Thursday morning.
In the season opener last weekend, both sides got contrasting results – Iganmu lost 3-0 to defending champions Beyond Limits in Ikenne, while Gbagada beat Dannaz 1-0.
Going into Thursday’s clash, Iganmu were looking for their first goal and first point of the season, while Akinyelu Olajide’s men were keen to consolidate the start they had made.
It was Iganmu who made the best possible start when Ogundare Williams put them ahead in the 17th minute, but that lead only lasted two minutes as Gbagada found their leveller. Striker Ademola Akibu headed home a cross Balogun Wasiu to drag his side level.
Just before the break, Iganmu went close again but the frame of the goalpost denied them a second goal. Both sides went for more goals in the half but that never came as the half finished balanced.
After the break, both managers made changes in search of the game’s third goal but it was not forthcoming. Even the sending off of Bolarin David (Gbagada) could not change the game as both sides failed to find a winner.
In their five meetings in the TCC, this will be their third stalemate and it remains to be seen what will be the outcome in the reverse fixture.
