The top of the table clash in the Creative Championship and the much anticipated fixture in Ijebu-ode, ended goalless.
It was a ding-dong affair all through and could have been a win at some point for either of the teams. However, Gbagada would feel unlucky not to have left the Gateway state with a win after a crucial miss in the final moment of the game.
Dino SC dominated the game and kept the visitors at bay, but their dominance couldn’t produce a goal. Meanwhile, Gbagada goalie Ramon Kabiru made two carbon copy mistakes, giving the ball away to Adekunle Elijah twice, but one of the striker’s effort was cleared off the line by Owopetu Joshua while the other was saved by Kabiru early on.
At the other end, Joshua headed a delicious cross from Eya Solomon onto the croas-bar five minutes before the break, but so it stayed at the break.
The second half was more of defensive actions from both sides, as none of them was ready to be breached.
The best chance of the half fell kindly to Semiu Fagbayi in the 83rd minute. He was double-minded with just the goalkeeper to beat and his intended pass seconds after was cleared by the home side. Either side couldn’t find a breakthrough and it ended that way.
Both sides’ defence is yet to be breached. Perhaps, it was the most appropriate result for both sides who finished the day as the early pace setters of the Creative Championships.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Owopetu Joshua was impeccable at the back for Gbagada FC. He was brilliant, keeping foray of opposition attacks at arm’s length and his goal line clearance was the highlight of his defensive masterclass in Ijebu-ode.
