Dannaz FC 3 - 2 Dino

16th October, 2022

Dannaz triumphant in goalfest

Dannaz got their first win of the new TCC League campaign when they beat Dino 3-2 in Lagos on Saturday.

The Cedars made their debut in the competition last year and must have not been pleased with their results when the season ended; came into this game in need of a win after losing narrowly to Gbagada on the opening weekend.

Dino, on the other hand, are arguably one of the best sides in TCC’s history. They finished second second last season and were in the top three in the maiden campaign. The TCC Cup holders began the 22/23 season with a win over Imperial in the Ogun derby.

Different games with its own challenges as Dino began the game in the worst possible way when goalkeeper Gideon Ede was sent off in the 11th minute.

Despite the numerical advantage, Dannaz struggled to break down Godwin Gibson’s side who would eventually go on to get the game’s first goal. Stanley Ogbonna scored for the second game running in the 28th minute.

The scoreline remained that way until the break. Fatai Akande’s men emerged from the tunnel with more energy and zeal as they found two goals through Precious Emmanuel and Aderibigbe Pual to turn the game on its head in the 51st and 66th minute respectively.

Dino kept fighting and were able to find their equalizer in the 74th minute but six minutes later Obakimi Joshua stepped up to score what would eventually be the winner for Dannaz in Lagos.

Dannaz held on for their first points of the season, while Dino were handed their first defeat of the new campaign.
