Beyond LImits begin cup journey in style

Last year’s finalists, Beyond Limits (formerly Remo Stars Academy) began their chase for a cup success, with a 4-1 demolition of Valiant FC at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.

Olumide Ajibolade’s boys were drawn bye on match day one, while Valiant edged Dino SC 2-1 at this game’s venue last time out.

It was the homers who started brightly and looked for early dominance, but the visitors were resolute at the back. However, the breakthrough came for the Sky Blues in the 24th minute when Moshood Taiwo calmly slotted home from Onyebuchi Obasi’s pass.

Five minutes later, the hosts doubled their lead through Ganiyu Adio’s header off a cross from Isah Abubakar. The two-goal cushion was what the home side settled for as the half came to an end.

After the break, Obasi kept probing for a goal deserving of his excellent performance but the Brave boys’ defence kept denying him. Meanwhile, Valiant came forward too but their decent attempt at goal was narrowly put wide by defender Yusuf Zakarriya from a freekick

There was still time for late drama in the game’s final ten minutes. Winger Agboola Ifeoluwa initially halved the deficit for Fawehinmi Olanrewaju’s side but two further goals from substitutes Ezekiel LIght and Godstime Apini secured the win for the Ikenne side.

Onyebuchi Obasi (Beyond Limits FA)

Obasi was simply unplayable in the game. A classic captain’s performance from the winger.
