Imperial Move Up To Third With Emphatic Win Over Valiant

Imperial put up a fine second-half performance to beat Valiatn 3-1 at the Legacy Pitch on Sunday.

Valiant have been below par this season and have spent the better parts of the season in the bottom two, while Imperial have been excellent racking up some impressive wins home and away.

Valiant raced to an early lead in the match week’s final game through Abiodun Toheeb in the 19th minute. The goal shocked the visitors who tried getting back into the game immediately. But the hosts’ defense led by Salihu Zakari continued to hold on and keep the likes of Hoel Augustine and Ademola Alao at bay.

However, ten minutes after the break Imperial found themselves level through substitute Daniel Adelakun and ten minutes later they went into the lead for the first time through another substitute Daniel Abisuga.

As Valiant searched for their way back into the game, Adedeji Ayeoba’s boys kept it tight at the back and deservedly made the points sure when Eric Ologe scored in the 73rd minute.

The result left Valiant bottom with 11 points, while Imperial moved into third position as results earlier in the match week went in their favour.
