Beyond Limits came from a goal down to beat Sporting Lagos 2-1 in the title decider played at the Legacy Pitch on Sunday.
The two sides have been in the running for the title since match week five. League debutants Sporting started the season on a losing note but recovered quite well to compete for the crown that has been with BYL since the inaugural season in 2020/21.
Everything was down to this particular fixture after Sporting were held to a goalless draw by Dino SC two match weeks ago and BYL capitalized by beating Gbagada 2-1 at home.
With the realities known to Micah Bello and his team, they raced into an early lead in the contest, but the champions found the desired response just before the break through Farouq Ogundare.
Sporting kept asking the questions and hoping for a way to break down the defence of the visitors as marshalled by Stanley Joseph and Victory Iboro.
However, after the break, the defending champions showed why they deserved to be champions again as they turned defence into attack with Shola Ogundana’s shot falling into the path of an unmarked Farouq, who finished expertly for his second of the game.
BYL held on and defended resolutely to win on the road and clinch a third successive league crown.
