Gbagada Leaves it Late Against Iganmu

Gbagada kept the log leaders in their sight with their hard-fought win over Emmydinho.

With Beyond Limits opening up a nine-point gap earlier in the day, the Blue Eagles were tasked with the responsibility of matching their result.

The game started in quiet fashion as both sides warmed up to each other in the first 15 minutes of the game. Iganmu threatened in the 17th but could not finish off their chance.

Wasiu Balogun would punish this inability to take chances by scoring the first goal of the game in the 21st minute to put Coach Akinyelu side in the lead. A quick one-two between him and

Five minutes later, Gbagada doubled their lead. Latching onto a loose ball, Rilwan Gbadamosi took possession of the ball, and was through on goal after a quick one-two pass. He slotted the ball calmly past the goalkeeper to increase his side’s advantage.

The Iganmu Lions, continued their search for a first goal. And they would get it before the half-time break, as Fidelix John pulled one back for the visitors.

Smelling blood, Iganmu started the second half the stronger of the two sides, pummeling their opponents with everything they had. They would be duly rewarded for their hard work as Ifeanyi Nwala powered home the equalizer.

Goalkeeper Oligbinde had to be called upon a few times to thwart the onslaught of the visitors as they sought to take the lead. As the game wore on, both sides continued to press for a third goal. But it would be the home side who will get it, as Adiele Marvelous was well positioned to head the ball home from close range.

The game finished with Gbagada having the last say and closing the gap at the top to just six points.
