Imperial Record Second Win a Row, Climb to Third

Imperial scored four past Iganmu Tiger to record a first TCC League win away from home in 2023.

On a weekend of mostly away wins, Coach Ayeoba’s team recorded the largest winning margin of the MatchDay, thereby recording two wins in a row.

The hosts, searching for a first win of the year, couldn’t have started the game any worse. After withstanding the early onslaught from the away team, they gave in to the pressure and conceded the first goal which was scored by Joel Augustine in the 13th minute.

Just before the 20th-minute mark, Bilyaminu Abdullahi made it two while Yusuf Salau made it three just before the half-time whistle to heap more pressure on the hosts.

Iganmu’s struggles to contain Imperial continued in the second half. As well as struggling to score goals, they couldn’t keep up with the pace at which Imperial played.

It didn’t take long before Imperial added a fourth goal as Ademola Alao found space to slot the ball past Ismail Fawaz in goal in the 61st minute. Although Damilare Richard got one back for the hosts in the 77th minute, it wasn’t enough to retrieve what was already a lost cause.

While Iganmu Tiger’s search for a first win in the calendar year continues, Imperial’s win means they’re now seven points away from the log leaders
