Valiant shrugged off their poor run of form to nick a win at Emmydinho in one of TCC League’s
matchweek 14 games in Ikenne.
It has been an underwhelming campaign for both clubs as they currently find themselves in the
bottom half of the log.
In this significant game, it was Valiant who started better and dominated proceedings with ease
but against the run of play, Emmydinho went in front through Christopher Amaechi’s wonderful
goal after ten minutes.
For large periods of the half, it was all Valiant dominating play and creating tonnes of chances.
Gafar Olaniyan, Sixtus Elegalam and Sanusi Maleek were all denied by the host’s goalkeeper and
no breakthrough.
After the break, the men in green switched gears and began playing with more purpose. The
halftime introduction of Taiwo Daniel and Yakubu Yahaya for the visitors worked the magic in a matter of
minutes.
The front trio of Maleek, Gafar and Sixtus combined for the equalizer before substitute Daniel
put his side in the lead for the first time in the game. Few moments later, Sixtus completed his
brace after he was set up by Daniel in the area.
The hosts didn’t do much since the half began and it has been their identity all season. However,
there was still time for Maleek to grab his own goal after he was played through by Yahaya.
That was the way it ended as Valiant moved away from the bottom but Emmydinho stayed
bottom.
