Gbagada stole the three points in this TCC League encounter against Broad City to move closer to Beyond Limits at the top.
Both sides, needing the win, started off on different foots, with Broad City forcing a save out of goalkeeper Olotu as early as the 11th minute. With Gbagada finding their feet as the game grew, it was Alfred’s turn to force a save out of goalkeeper Lawrence Williams.
The back-and-forth in the game continued as Broad City foray forward in the 28th minute saw them hit the woodwork. The rest of the half would see both sides unable to threaten each other’s goal as the both teams went into the break without a goal.
It was the Blue Eagles who started the second half as the better side, with Wasiu Balogun forcing a save out of the Broad City goalkeeper from a direct freekick in the 58th minute. Three minutes after, it was Broad City’s turn to try and find an opening goal but Olotu was on hand, once again, to thwart the threat.
With game heading for a draw, Coach Akinyelu’s boys drew a rabbit out of their hats, with a 92nd minute goal. Solomon Eya was on hand to slot home from close range, latching onto a cross from the right wing.
The goal was enough to earn them a win, forcing Broad City’s winless run to continue.
