Sporting Lagos were at their very best at the weekend, as they thumped Imperial 5-2 in one of the match week 12 games.
Sporting came into the fixture on the back of two consecutive wins, while Imperial have seen their form drop a bit, losing to BYL in the final league game of 2022.
Raji Usman handed the Lagosians the lead after just 16 minutes before Daniel Bartholomew and Fasanaya Hammed added more goals to complete a blistering half-hour for the hosts. Imperial managed to pull one back before the break through Musa Abdulmaleek.
Meanwhile, within the space of three second half minutes, Sporting added two more goals to increase their tally. Bartholomew completed his brace while Taro Godswill also joined the scoring.
It was too easy for the Lagosians as Imperial struggled to match them in all aspects of the game. Ademola Alao pulled one back for Adedeji Ayeoba’s men but the deed was done.
Sporting’s win ensured they stayed in second place, two points adrift of leaders BYL, while Imperial dropped to fifth.
