Remo Stars U19 2-2 Imperial FC

Thursday 8th April, 2021

Venue: Remo Stars Stadium

Full-time: Remo Stars U19 2-2 Imperial FC

Remo Stars U19 and basement boys Imperial FC reopened the TCC League curtains with an exciting 2-2 draw in Ikenne on Thursday.

The away side were not given any chance going into the game but the tie immediately took a turn around when they went ahead in the opening 15 minutes.

After a poor passage of play in their defensive half, Chidera Ezeno was played through on goal and duly punished Remo Stars, to score the opening goal in the 12th minute.

Table toppers Remo Stars were still sleeping and perhaps still in holiday mood as they conceded a second shortly after the half-hour mark off the boots of Bunmi Akande.  The Odogbolu outfit took the lead into the break, leaving the hosts stunned.

After the interval and a host of changes, they kept opening up the opposition’s defence in search of a goal but it was not forth coming. The Sky Blues found a way back into the game in the final ten minutes.

After a series of missed chances, they finally found a way back into the game. First, Ogungbe Ayomide’s bullet strike in the 82nd minute handed them a lifeline. They weren’t done and five minutes later, they were back on level terms.

Substitute Ezekiel Light became the hero when he scored the equaliser for the league leaders, who escaped a home loss to the league’s bottom placed side.  It finished 2-2 at the Remo Stars Stadium.

Remo Stars increased their lead at the top to four points while Imperial remain rock bottom.

Jimoh Quadri (Imperial FC)

The lad had a splendid game. He was the chief creator and Remo’s tormentor in the game for Imperial.
