Spoils shared between Iganmu and Imperial

Iganmu and Imperial were inseparable after their Matchweek 11 fixture in the TCC League.

The game, which started off at a frenetic pace, saw the away team try to outplay the Iganmu Lions in the middle of the park, threading balls through the middle while trying to stretch the backline.

The Iganmu defence remained sturdy however, determined to not concede the goal. While withstanding the early onslaught from the Imperial youngsters, Iganmu’s Ifeanyi Nwala broke the deadlock, pushing through defenders and firing one in.

The early goal did nothing to dampen the spirits of the Imperial players, who kept loading the middle of the park, with Bilyaminu and Adaralegbe, as well as Chidera as busy as ever. In the 39th minute, Imperial found their breakthrough, with Adaralegbe on hand to convert a rebound after goalkeeper Mufutau failed to deal with a fierce shot from outside the box.

The first half ended without a winner, and the second began just like the first had ended, with both sides at each other’s necks. Ifeanyi was a constant threat to the Imperial defence, making deadly runs and contesting the ball.

For Imperial, they came close a few times, with Chidera Ezeno nearly converting a free-kick in the middle of the second half. None of these attempts troubled either goalies as the match finished with the spoils shared.
