Gbagada FC’s bad patch of form continued this weekend as they lost, again, this time to BroadCity FC.
The Blue Eagles had previously lost four games in a row, including conceding 12 goals in two games against Imperial FC.
Desperate to salvage what is left of their season and catch the downward spiral, the Blue Eagles started the game in fine fashion. But that was after goalkeeper Mubarak was forced into action in the 2nd minute as he tipped one over the bar.
Gbagada grew into the game after but had little next to nothing to show for their effort as the visitors kept the pressure on. But their opponents thwarted whatever they threw at them. Gbagada’s most important play of the half came in the 38th minute of the game when Isaa’s shot forced the BroadCity goalie into making a save.
What seemed to rather be a quiet first half ended with both sides failing to find the back of the net.
Gbagada piled on the pressure in the beginning of the 2nd half as they searched for the game’s first goal. But Akibu and Adiele were both unlucky as their chances were well dealt with by the BroadCity defense.
Four minutes after Adiele’s attempt, BroadCity took a surprise lead against the run of play as Ezugwu Uche. The one goal proved to be the difference between the two sides as BroadCity picked up maximum points that sees them jump up to third on the log table.
For Gbagada, the winless run continues.
