Sporting edge Iganmu Tiger in Lagos

Sporting Lagos faced Iganmu Tiger in one of the opening games of match week ten in the Creative Championship League, edging the Tigers 2-1 in a keenly contested game.

Sporting have found wins hard to come by in recent weeks and were beaten in the reverse fixture last week by the Tigers.

So, they came into this contest with the knowledge that they need to win and move up the ladder, having been left behind by the rest of the pack. Iganmu, who are a difficult side to play against, were hoping to complete the double over the league debutants.

Sporting, in their usual manner, started the game brightly and were on the front foot from the get-go, trying to unsettle the visitors. And that early push paid off as the home side went into the lead through Raji Usman in the 11th minute.

However, that lead only lasted 60 seconds with the visitors finding the leveller through Onilude Wariz at the Legacy Pitch in Lagos. Apart from those quick-fire goals, the game settled into a cagey affair, as the away side continued to hold it tight at the back.

Just minutes after the break, Sporting went back into the lead through Dimeji Salvador and they were able to hold on for their first win since match week five.

The win takes Sporting back into the top three, above the Tigers who dropped to fifth on the log.
