Former league leaders Valiant FC’s free fall continued as they lost 2-1 at Gbagada FC in the TCC League on Saturday.
The performances from the away side have been below par since the turn of the year while the home side have managed to stay consistent after the initial stuttering in the initial stages of the campaign.
Gbagada FC knew that a win would take them above their visitors while the Brave Boys were looking at returning to winning ways having lost 2-0 at home to Dino SC last match day.
Valiant FC flew out of the blocks early and they went on to take the lead in the opening 15minutes of the game. Top marksman Lukman Ibrahim converted the spot kick in the 13th minute to give his side the lead.
It became a ding-dong affair from that moment on and the home side levelled the scoring in the 37th minute. Peter Edema scored from 12 yards after they got a penalty of their own.
Both sides kept searching for the third goal of the game upon the resumption of hostilities at the Soccer Temple. But it was the Blue Eagles who found it at the death of the game. Substitute Alashiri Tomisin bundled home a cross from Semiu Fagbayi to give his side all three points against Coach Achieve Yunus’ men.
With four match days left, Coach Akinyelu Olajide’s side have moved up to fourth while the visitors are now placed fifth on the TCC log.
Man of the Match
Akinsola Babatunde (Valiant)
His side may have lost, but he was the best player on the pitch this afternoon. Simply unplayable and did his bits in the game.
