Dino Gbagada play out draw in six-goal thriller

Second and third remained inseparable in this Matchweek 10 TCC League encounter as Dino and Gbagada played out an enthralling draw.

For Dino, it was all about consolidating their win away from, this time playing host to the Gbagada Eagles. For Coach Akinyelu, a win was already due after dropping points to the landlords of the Lions’ Den.

It was Dino who had the first chance in the 7th minute. The freekick was however skied. That was before Wasiu Balogun was flagged offside and Dino let another opportunity slip from their hands.

Gbagada opened the scoring in the 20th minute as Semiu Fagbayi sent one home for the Blue Eagles. He’d come close to a second just five minutes later but he wasn’t as clinical. A minute after the missed opportunity, Akibu, who was provider for Semiu a minute earlier, was on hand to poke home, giving his side a two-goal lead.

In a bid to catch up with the run-away leaders of the game, Dino won a penalty which Elijah Adekunle converted. The frenetic half continued with both the manager and assistant of Gbagada getting sent off. Dino sensing the vulnerability, took the initiative and up stepped Hycinth Ogonna who scored his freekick.

The second half started the same way the first ended: more goal-scoring chances were created. While some ended up being wasted, others forced goalkeepers Olotu and Gideon Ede to step up to the plate and save their sides.

In the 63rd minute however, there was little Olotu could do as Dino converted yet another freekick, scored this time by substitute Ikechukwu Friday. Three could have easily become four but for a goal-line clearance by Biliamin who came on as a substitute.

Staring yet another defeat in the eye, Gbagada dug in deep and Ridwan Gbadamosi was on hand to draw his side level, thereby complementing all of Olotu’s hardwork. The frenetic game was brought to a close by the refs as both sides shared the spoils.
